What Batchstack collects
Creating an account stores your name, email address, an optional profile photo, and, for password accounts, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself). Signing in with Google shares your name, email, and profile photo from Google. Your course progress (which lessons you've completed) is stored with your account so it follows you across devices.
The Application Grader
Signed out, draft answers you type into the grader stay in your browser and are never sent anywhere. Running the grader requires an account. When you run it, your answers are sent to an AI service (Anthropic's Claude, via Amazon Bedrock) to generate your feedback, and both the draft and the resulting reading are stored with your account so you can revise and run it again. Each graded run is also kept as a record, so the feedback the tool gives can be reviewed and improved over time. All of it is visible only to you, is never sold or shared, and is deleted with your account.
Batchstack sends email only to verify your address when you create an account. Email is delivered through Resend, a transactional email provider. Your address is never sold or shared for advertising.
Analytics
Batchstack uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read, so the course and guides can be improved. It runs only if you accept analytics cookies: until then Google Analytics is loaded with every storage permission denied and sets nothing. If you accept, it records the pages you view, approximate location derived from your IP address, and general device and browser information. It is not used for advertising, the data is not sold or shared with advertisers, and nothing you type into the grader is sent to Google.
Batchstack also uses PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand which parts of the course and the grader are actually used. It is loaded only if you accept analytics cookies — decline, and none of its code is downloaded at all. If you accept, it records the pages you view and a small number of named actions, such as running the grader or opening the enrollment page. It does not record your screen, does not automatically capture what you click or type, and none of your draft answers are sent to it. PostHog processes this data in the United States.
Cookies
One httpOnly session cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It is strictly necessary, so it is set without asking: without it there is no way to stay signed in. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them on the banner, and declining is remembered so you are not asked again on every visit. You can change your answer at any time through the Cookie settings link in the footer. There are no advertising cookies, and nothing here is used to build an advertising profile of you. Browser settings and extensions that block analytics are respected, and the site works normally with them on.
Deleting your data
You can request deletion of your account and everything associated with it at any time by contacting the team; deletion is completed promptly and is not reversible.
